Apartments for sale in Torrevieja are available across a very wide price range — from approximately €80,000 for a compact resale property in the city centre or an older urbanisation, through modern 2 and 3-bedroom apartments close to the beach from around €150,000–200,000, to exclusive penthouses with sea or lagoon views from approximately €250,000. Buying an apartment in Torrevieja involves the same formalities as any transaction on the Spanish property market. On resale purchases in the Valencian Community, Property Transfer Tax (ITP) applies at 10% of the property value. On top of this come notary fees, land registry inscription and gestoría costs — in total you should budget for approximately 11–13% on top of the purchase price in additional expenses. On new build apartment purchases from a developer, VAT of 10% applies along with Stamp Duty (AJD) of 1.5%.
